UFC 138: Etim puts in 17 seconds of work and lands the Submission of the Night

UFC 138: Etim puts in 17 seconds of work and lands the Submission of the Night

Terry Etim made up for lost time by not wasting any at UFC 138. Etim blew threw Edward Faaloloto in just 17 seconds in the Spike television opener of UFC 138 in Birmingham, England.

The Brit came out on fire and drilled Faaloloto with a stiff jab and two left hooks. The attack continued with a well-placed spinning back kick. Faaloloto had enough and tried to go for a takedown, but he left his head exposed. Etim jumped into a guillotine choke. It hit the floor seconds later and Faaloloto tapped. All that in only 17 seconds.

He earned the Submission of the Night bonus good for $70,000.

"I said I was coming back with a bang and there you go. I really enjoyed that! I've been out for a while so I need to get back and gain some momentum," said Etim.

Etim (15-3, 6-3 UFC) hadn't been in the Octagon since UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi back in Apr. of 2010. He's battled a slew of injuries, most prominently the lingering effects of a broken rib.

A once bright prospect in the UFC's lightweight division, Etim, 25, was sort of the forgotten man. This was a good wake-up call for the rest of the division. If Etim can shore up his own takedown defense, he'll have a chance to be a real player at 155 pounds in the future. At 6-foot-1, he's a tough match up for most lightweights.
