De Boer: 2022 WCup would be better in winter

LONDON (AP) -Ronald de Boer first helped Qatar win the right to host the 2022 World Cup, and now he's calling for the tournament to be moved to winter.

The former Netherlands midfielder, who still works for Qatar as a football advisor, appealed to the desert nation's leadership to heed UEFA President Michel Platini's request that the tournament is not staged in the sweltering summer heat.

De Boer spoke at the Leaders in Football conference, but said he made his views clear to Qatar's bid team ahead of the surprise victory in the 2010 vote.

"We went for the summer of course ... but you have a lot of people doubting that and you look for other possibilities," De Boer said. "And I said already from the start, `Why not (the winter)?"'

Platini, who could be FIFA president from 2015, is willing to reschedule Europe's football calendar to allow the World Cup to be played in the winter.

"I think it's great what Platini did to come forward out and say what he thought," De Boer said. "And now everyone's talking about it. So it's the first step ... I said sometimes to the (Qatari) Supreme Committee, `I would do it in the winter.' But they can't say that."

FIFA President Sepp Blatter insists Qatar would have to make a formal request to dramatically move to dates of the World Cup. But Nasser Al-Khater, the organizing committee spokesman, said the request would have to come from FIFA.

"I think all the bodies together to come to a common solution," De Boer said on the sidelines of the conference. "It's very easy to stick with the old thing because we've done it already for years."

The biggest concern is about how supporters would cope in temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) if the tournament is staged in June and July as usual. The stadiums are due to be air conditioned, but De Boer is concerned about how fans would cope when moving around Qatar.

"You have to drink a lot and people have to take care of themselves," said De Boer, who played for Qatari teams at the end of a career with Ajax, FC Twente, Barcelona and Rangers. "So for me the best thing for me is the winter. For the fans the best thing is the winter."

And players from most European teams could also be at their peak then.

"A tournament like the World Cup can benefit from players not being so burned out after a long season," De Boer said. "You have everyone well-adjusted and physically fit (in the winter), and get the best out of the players. So you see a better tournament. I think there's a big possibility in that so why not try it?"

The tiny Middle Eastern emirate beat competition from Australia, Japan, South Korea and the United States to land the 2022 tournament, becoming the smallest country ever to be a World Cup host.

SAN JOSE, Calif. ? The second episode of WWE Main Event continued to make Wednesday nights on ION Television the latest destination for high-octane WWE action. The featured contest pit bitter rivals Randy Orton and Big Show at odds with one another in a rematch from their recent No. 1 Contender?s Match on SmackDown. Plus, Kofi Kingston battled Michael McGillicutty, and WWE Main Event?s first title match was made for next week!

Big Show def. Randy Orton (PHOTOS | WATCH)

Based on their respective interviews before the contest, there was no love lost between The World?s Largest Athlete and WWE?s Apex Predator. The bitter rivalry intensified on SmackDown two weeks prior, when Big Show defeated Orton in a World Heavyweight Title No. 1 Contender?s Match. The World?s Largest Athlete took advantage of an attack by Alberto Del Rio before that match, injuring The Viper?s ribs. On WWE Main Event, though, Orton struck with a fast-paced offense to keep Big Show reeling. The rib injury soon came into play, however, with a powerful blow from the giant stopping Orton?s momentum.

Big Show?s strategy was effective in keeping The Viper on defense throughout the contest. Orton?s injured ribs seemed to be easy targets for the massive fists of The World?s Largest Athlete, and though WWE?s Apex Predator managed to execute an impressive DDT from the third rope, his gigantic opponent was able to roll out of the ring following an RKO.

Relentless, Orton attempted a second RKO at ringside, but Big Show resisted, tossing Orton into the side of the ring with his ribs absorbing the impact. Reeling in pain, Orton?s ribs became the target of a series of huge elbow drops and two Colossal Clutches before Big Show secured the victory with a chokeslam.

These tactical programs usually include:

? ?Product Development Plan?
? ?Marketing Communications Plan?
? ?Sales Development Plan?
? ?Customer Service Plan?
? ?Benefiting from a Strategic Marketing Plan?

The top-down process of developing a strategic marketing plan helps insure that all tactical marketing programs support the company's goals and objectives, as well as convey a consistent message to customers.

Yahoo CTO Ash Munshi Has Left - Business Insider

Yahoo CTO Ash Munshi has left the company, a spokesperson confirmed to Business Insider after we inquired.

He was at Yahoo for less than a year, having been appointed shortly after Carol Bartz was fired as CEO.

A source familiar with Yahoo's inner workings told us his direct reports hadn't seen him around the office in the past month.

A Yahoo spokesperson told us that Munshi left the company before Marissa Mayer was appointed CEO in July, and the company has not filled the position.

It's not surprising that there's a lot of executive churn at Yahoo: The company has had five CEOs in the past year.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Munshi is also chairman of a real-estate software company, Terabitz. He's also worked in a lot of short-term turnaround situations.

Update:?This story's been updated with more information about the timing of Munshi's departure, which took place before Mayer joined the company.

Cooladerry Ace to justify her high price in William Hill - The Home Of Betting Stakes at Sunderland

Cooladerry Ace has multiple things in favour, and the bookmakers have done the right thing to give her good odds. The black bitch is standing in the red box, and looks ready to bang the opposition in William Hill - The Home Of Betting Stakes, a 450 metres Grade A3 contest, being hosted by Sunderland on Tuesday, October 09, 2012.

Cooladerry Ace?s current form is very good. On her latest trip, the dashing bitch demonstrated an outstanding show, winning an A4 meeting by a length?s distance. Y. Bell?s charge took full advantage of the first box, and stayed ahead until the wire.

An excellent finish helped her grab the victory comprehensively. She is all set to do the same in today?s contest. If an early advantage comes to her, she will surely become invincible today.

Others in the race are: Dicty Blue Bob, Bua Kilross, Black Ocho, Big Tune and Keelans Buddy. As per the schedule, the race will be begun at 18:18 GMT. The winner of this event will leave the park with a handsome prize worth ?123.

Dicty Blue Bob looks set to command a lion?s share of the market. The blue dog recently won a couple of races with plenty of ease. He could not strike hat-trick, and suffered defeat last time. However, it was not a disgraceful loss. Despite a crowded run up, he managed to seize the third place in a close contest.

Big Tune is due a change of luck after a couple of bumpy rides lately. His recent form does not suggest anything good. On the other hand, Black Ocho is worth including. It will be a huge surprise if she does not claim a place among first three.

Keelans Buddy had excuses recently, and it would be very hard for him to turn things around. Bua Kilross knows what success feels like, but needs to appear with a special effort to go for the first rank.

Dicty Blue Bob boasts the strongest profile, and can make things tricky for the rest. But the preference is for Cooladerry Ace, who is well drawn. Good luck to all the hounds.
